Gottfried Palatin hat mit der Serie eine klassisch elegante, sehr moderne Tafelglasserie geschaffen. Ihre Veredelung bedeckt nur die Stellen der Silhouette, an denen es einen Sinn ergibt: hier nimmt man das Glas in die Hand und bekommt durch die Schliffkanten einen beruhigend sicheren Griff; oder dort verdeckt sie die Enden der Blumen in der Vase. So nimmt sich die Veredelung bei all ihrer Üppigkeit zurück in eine dienende Rolle. Und sie unterstreicht dabei die sinnliche Form der Gläser.
With this series Gottfried Palatin has created a range of stemware that is classically elegant as well as modern. Its decorative cuts are limited to the parts that matter. In the case of the goblet, those that come in contact with one’s hand, giving the glass an exciting feel and safe grip. In the case of the vase, they are placed where they cover the severed ends of flower stems. Though lush, in this series, the decorative elements have found their way back to their practical role.
